A little trip constructive criticism please!

Good day everyone,
I am a brand new member and have been reading as much as I can about Switzerland, we've never been there and I am at the analysis paralysis stage now :)
We have 13 days in September, starting and ending in Zurich.

We want to explore the Lauterbrunnen area extensively so we have 4 days there in an Airbnb to start ( and can extend if we'd like, so much to do)
After that we want to do a road trip to visit some of the smaller towns, we will probably just chase Marriot properties on the route since we have so many points but can always find a nice local hotel if we're feeling it at any of the stops.

We like visiting smaller quaint towns but aren't locked into that, like hiking but nothing crazy, love day adventures, aren't foodies/we don't let food/cuisine dictate our travels.

This is derived from me looking up best small-town lists, best views, most interesting stops etc, etc then creating this route.

Here is the route (I took Zurich off the front and back due to stop limitations on google maps)

Let me know if I'm missing something blatant, or if there's a better more interesting route etc. I appreciate everyone's input, good, and bad or if I'm a complete idiot, I don't mind hearing that either :)

Thank you!

I don't know how many Mariotts are available outside the Metro areas. The smaller villages such as Murren and Wengen only have mom and pop hotels to my knowledge. You might want to book hotels in advance instead of winging it. They seem to be filling up fast. Good luck with your trip

I think "chasing Marriotts" is not going to work very well for your plan. You want to see villages/small towns, which Marriotts are not in. I also think you might want to consider slowing down and seeing the country by train instead of a car. A lot of my favorite parts of Switzerland are car free (Wengen, Murren, Gimmelwald, Bettmeralp, Riederalp, Zermatt, Saas Fee, etc.) so if you really want to see the beauty of the peaceful villages, a car isn't the way to see them.

I am travelling in September to Switzerland for my 12th trip.
Use the trains and buses to get to even the tiniest of places! A car is a major drag.

My apologies, I should have noted regarding the Marriots. Marriot has a VRBO type program now where you can use points to rent peoples houses/condos etc. Which provides us quite a few options in the area.

That sounds nice!
Most of these little towns have mom 'n' pop hotels only.
I personally love LOVE Brienz. In it's own pristine lake, ringed by mountains. Home of wood carvers and fabulous, old wooden chalets.
Bus to village above hosting an extensive "outdoor museum" covering acres Ballenberg.
I'll wave (staying in Brienz at the end of September)!

I dont know so much about Ticino, so can't offer comment on those towns.
