We will be visiting Zurich in June 2025. What sights should we be sure not to miss? Seniors who like to walk.
We did this as a half day outing one fall https://swissfamilyfun.com/easy-nature-walks-near-zurich/#15_Uetliberg_Panorama_Trail. Easy access via public trans. Many more to consider here https://swissfamilyfun.com/easy-nature-walks-near-zurich/.
Commenting to follow as we also have a day and a half in Zurich and are trying to prioritize. We'll be there in May of this year. One thing that caught "our" (my wife's) attention is the Lindt factory tour and museum. https://www.lindt-home-of-chocolate.com/en/
The Swiss National Museum, across the street from the main train station, is worth an hour or two.
The Landesmuseum is definitely worth a visit. Excellent presentations and artifacts, and several rooms restored with the intricate woodwork that was very much a Swiss trademark for several hundred years.
If you have any interest in aviation or WWII history the Fleiger Flub museum is really interesting. First, because they have an excellent collection of all the different types of aircraft used by the Swiss Air Force, and second because the airfield is where they held a lot of the interred aircraft during WWII and they have a interesting collection of artifacts and film of those aircraft. The museum also houses an excellent display of aircraft machine guns and anti-aircraft weapons. https://airforcecenter.ch/startseite/
I found Zurich to be very easy to walk around, and very dedicated to luxury shopping.
Two sites I really enjoyed in Zurich were the Kunsthaus- a wonderful modern art museum- and the Kirche Fraumunster, a church with beautiful stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. I also liked walking through the old town (on the east side of the river) and getting macarons from Sprungli. For traditional local food I really enjoyed Zeughauskeller which is a beer hall.
I accept that Sigmar Polke is not the best-known or most popular modern German artist. But I am sorry to have missed his very unusual stained glass windows in Zurich.
Chagall and Giacometti have windows in another church in Zurich.
I'd bet that Rick covers this in his guidebook ...
