9-day itinerary starting in Zurich and ending in Geneva?

I’m flying from the US on a business trip to Zurich, which ends on the night of Thursday July 4th. My wife will fly in to Zurich on Friday morning and we plan to spend 9 days in Switzerland (our first time there). We will fly back from Geneva.

We like gentle hikes (both of us are mid-50s and reasonably fit).

Three points:

1) We want to ideally have no more than three bases (even two), so that we minimize time wasted in checking in and out.

2) We need to be in Zurich for a Hare Krishna street parade on Sunday the 7th.

3) We will rent airbnbs so that we can cook (we are strict vegetarians and Switzerland is probably not a vegetarian-friendly country, LOL.

Given the above, what two or three places should we build our itinerary around? We don’t much care for touristy places, so Jungfrau is not on our must-do list (for example).

Grateful for any tips and leads. Thank you.

So, if you are not interested in touristy places, what exactly are you interested in? Lots of places in the country are extremely touristy.

In Zurich, there are some museums that are worth checking out. There are some local bars that serve great beer. In Geneva, you can take a day trip to Annecy in France.

With 9 days, I think two bases are enough. Just stick to Zurich and Geneva.

You won't have trouble eating out in Switzerland. Lots of cheese fondues with breads and veggies. Lots of potato dishes and salads.

We were just there in April - I'm not a big meat eater and had no issues.

My daughter is vegetarian she had no difficulties in Switzerland.

Lots of beautiful places in Switzerland which is why they are heavily touristed. Perhaps consider Basel and Bern?
