9.25 layover in Geneva

I'm looking at a flight that has a 9.25 hr layover in Geneva, landing around 7:30 am local time, next flight departing around 5 pm. Would this be enough time to leave, have a meal in town, walk around and come back to the airport? Would rather confirm timing works before booking.

Thank you!

You would certainly have time to do some stuff. Note that when you leave the baggage area, on your right is a machine where you can get a free transportation ticket for 80 min. You could either take the train into the town center (5 min) which is in the underground mall to your left as you exit the airport, or, also to your left is the #10 bus which does the same thing.

Once you are in the town center (Gare Cornavin) there are shops and restaurants all around, and you can easily walk down to Lake Geneva. You could also take the bus to near John Calvin's church, climb it's bell tower for a great view, or rent a free bike (www.geneveroule.ch).

Yes, easily done. Trains are 5 every hour and it takes 7 minutes, plus many more buses, but they take 30 minutes. Cost 4 CHF each way.

Yes. It is only 7 minutes by frequent train to the centre of Geneva. Then you can just walk around. It is ~700 metres (10 minute walk) from the station down to the lake. Or there are trams around the city

Some questions:

1) Where are you arriving from at 07:30? If it is from outside the Schengen Area you will have to go through immigration which will take another 20-30 minutes?

2) Where are you flying to at 17:00? How long does the airline say you should be at the airport beforehand?

3) Will your bags be checked through, or will you have to store them somewhere?
There lockers at both Geneva airport and Geneva city-centre stations.

Make sure you have Swiss Frank coins to pay for the lockers.
