8 nights in Switzerland itinerary help

Hi all,
We are flying into Geneva and are first time travelers in Switzerland in mid-October. We are using Rick's new book to plan and would like to stay in one or maybe 2 locations as a home base and then take trains to others. We would love to take either the Bernina or Glacier Express but don't think we'll be that far east. The Golden Pass seems like a lovely alternative and like the idea of staying in a small town if it has transportation. Any suggestions would be appreciated! BTW, we're flying home from Zurich.

Thanks!

It's a broken record, but you can do scarcely better than Lake Geneva and the Bernese Oberland.
I'd shake off the jet lag somewhere like Montreux, Lausanne, Vevey (Nyon also looks adorable and has been mentioned here a few times) for 2-3 days, then take the train to Murren or Wengen (which seem to get equal praise) for as much of the rest of the time as you can swing depending on your outbound flight time. If you are flying 11am or later, then stay the last night in Lucerne. (If flight is early, then I'd go to Zurich late in the day the night before)
I didn't bother with any of the special trains because even the regular trains are incredibly scenic, but others can advise on working that in.

Thank you- flying in from Nice so no jet lag. I'll check out the two cities you mentioned.
