8 nights in Bernese overland - 2 home bases?

Hi,

I am planning on doing 8 night with my family of 4 (kids ages 12 and 9) in the Bernese overland in August. We are avid hikers. Would it make sense to split our home base 4 nights in Múrren and 4 nights and Wengen for ease of access to hiking trails. Alternatively, should we just stay put in murren and use the train system to get to the hikes that start closer to wengen.

Stay put and use the trains. I don’t think the convenience justifies the hassle of moving. The trains are a fun part of the adventure and getting settled into a chalet with a kitchen, groceries, etc is a nice relaxing feeling. If you’re planning on this August you need to get on lodging ASAP. A lot of the best places will already be rented out.
