8 Consecutive Day Swiss Pass

I went through the steps of ordering a Swiss-Pass on sbb.ch and from what I could tell, at the last step it seemed like it was going to give me a pdf to print out. Is this the only option when ordering from sbb.ch? Also, I've read that there are some instances where getting a discount on a high mountain lift or going to a museum will use a day of your Swiss-pass. Is this only applicable to the flexi-pass or does it also apply to the consecutive day pass?

Yes Chad, if you buy a Swiss pass online, you have to print it out. The other option is to buy it from a Swiss Railway station, either from the ticket machine or a manned ticket counter. Since there is no discount for advance purchase it will not cost any more if you wait and buy it when you arrive in Switzerland.
What have you got against printing it out yourself? You get sent the PDF in an e-mail. If you haven't got a printer at home, you can use one at work or a friend's.

If you get an 8-day Swiss Travel Pass, it is consecutive and uses up a day every day whether you use it or not. Are you thinking of the Swiss Travel Pass Flex? That does use up a day every time it is used. But the title of your post indicates that is not what you are referring to.

And I'll state it one more way. All Swiss Travel Passes are now pre-validated for the start date that you indicate during purchase. If you're getting 8 days consecutive, then it might be active from July 10 - 17. During that period nobody's counting how many trips you take with the pass.

If you chose a flexi pass, then the pre-validated travel window is one month, like July 10-August 9, but you pass usage days are filled in and counted as you go. Free museum entry is only offered on the counted travel days and lift discounts are also only offered on the counted travel days unless you buy the half-fare add-on.
