7 hr layover in Zurich

Hello and thank you for reading,

I have a 7 hour layover in Zurich in August during daytime hours. My plan is to use airport luggage locker to store backpack (with Euro coins that I have already) and buy a metro-train round trip or day pass ticket. I will take the 15-20 min trip into Zurich to walk around and have lunch. Leave Zurich 2 hours before my flight (which I will check latest times before leaving airport)

Has anyone done this? Does you have any advice? I would appreciate suggestions on where to go, how to find the lockers and train, timing, etc.

Laurie,
Switzerland doesn’t use Euros, rather their own monetary system of Swiss Francs (CHF). Might need to do a bit of research to see if there is any crossover, but I don’t believe there is.

I have done this before and it worked fine. Agree with the above on Swiss Francs. If I remember correctly I could use a CC at the lockers and never needed to get any Swiss Francs.

Seven hours should be enough time. Have never done this in Zurich but did in Madrid, Spain. BTW - the pedestrian area in Zurich is nice and enjoyable!

Thank you, I just double checked that on the Zurich airport website to make sure I read it in the correct place, it says:
for locker storage:
"All prices in CHF and per locker. Payment in advance, no card payment possible
(coin payment only). CHF and Euro possible. Maximum storage time 96 hours."

for luggage storage:
"All prices in CHF and per item. Payment in advance, card payment preferred.
CHF and Euro possible. Maximum storage time 6 months."

I understood that to mean Euro coins accepted as well as CHF. Also - 6 months?!? Good gravy. However since they take credit cards as well, that is my back up, in case there has been a change. I just happened to have $15 worth of Euro coins

That’s certainly a positive step- Euro possible for lockers, etc. Yea!!
