Any hotel suggestions for Hotel in Wengen in June??
Staying 6nights in Wengen.. budget is maybe $250/nt - but could stretch to $300 if desperate. - am I being too unrealistic?? I looked thru Booking.com and I came out feeling defeated..
thanks for any insight..
I just looked at the Hotel Bellevue and there are North facing double rooms for 190 CHF/night for 6 nights Sat-Fri 2nd week in June (no balcony). More for rooms with better views and a balcony. Our ski group stayed there 15 years ago and loved it.
You’ll get a lot more for your money renting a chalet apartment in Wengen instead of a hotel. Look on e-Domizil, Interhome, Airbnb, VRBO, Wengen Apartments, Alpine Holiday Services, etc.
In Wengen It’s also worth paying for any extra cost to have a south facing balcony to enjoy the views. It’s worth it. You’d regret not doing it once you’re there.
Two people? Hotel Bären is showing 270 CHF for a south-facing double room with balcony; bed and breakfast.
The same room is 239 for a solo traveler.
They have a special ( higher) rate that includes a 5-day Jungfrau pass and half-board.
I agree with wanderweg 100%.
We loved Hotel Belvedere from our 2018 Swiss trip! Great meals and the view of mountains off terrace! It’s old…but we found it charming! Pleasant staff! Wonderful Wengen!
I find half board at a hotel to be a good deal especially if food is expense to buy anyway at a supermarket or a restaurant. We did this in the Dolomites and plan to do for a future trip to this area. Plus, if you are staying more than a few days you get to know the proprietors and staff and it starts to feel like home. We rent apartments mostly so it’s a nice break (and luxury) from cooking if you can spring that. Also - Rick Steves Switzerland guide book (published May 2023) suggests several hotels in Wengen - all three stars except hotel berghaus which is two stars which you might want to check out.
