6-Day Itinerary in Switzerland

Hi all,

I am going to Switzerland for 6 nights. First time for my wife and I and I was wondering if you kind folks could help me plan out a 6-night itinerary for my trip. We will be going from August 22nd to August 28. My original plan is below.

Day 1 Geneva
Day 2 Lausanne, Bern (staying in Bern)
Day 3 Bern, Interlaken (staying in Interlaken)
Day 4 Interlaken
Day 5 Lucerne
Day 6 Zurich
Day 7 Zurich (flying out early morning)

Is that too much moving around? Should any of these stays be longer and other destinations turned into day trips instead?
Also, I would like to know the must see sights in these locations. I do not know anyone who has visited Switzerland. I will be ordering a travel guide book soon to learn more about the country before my travel but opinions from natives or previous traveler's always helps!
Please give feedback and advice on train passes.
Thank you in advance!

If your ambition is to go see the mountain scenery cut Geneva and Lausaunne and go straight to Interlaken (or Lauterbrunnen) followed by Bern (or just do this as a day trip), Luzern, and one night in Zurich. Depending on the mountain excursions you plan to take and to save money you may want to buy either the Swiss Half Fare Card or the Swiss Travel Pass. You can read the details of the benefits of each card at the following sites:

With just 7 days I would stick to 3 or 4 days in the lauterbrunnen valley (interlaken) - staying IN the valley not in interlaken and 3 days split between Lucerne and Zurich.

How does this dovetail in with the Paris trip you mentioned in your other posts? Why Geneva? Your early morning departure from Zurich airport leads me to think you intend to connect to a flight back to Texas on the same day. Can you get these linked? Otherwise, if there is a hiccup in your return flight, you'll be out of luck. And what about transferring luggage? Can you get it checked through to your final destination?

To take full advantage of this forum, you need to respond to questions. Otherwise, we'll think we are just talking to dead air.
