We will be departing Luzern for Wengen via Meiringen (thanks to good advice here!) 10 of us will be travelling together.
Option #1- Leave Luzern @ 1pm and go directly to Wengen
Other possible options depending on luggage storage availability at various stations would be to leave Luzern earlier and have time for lunch and short exploration. Meiringen or Interlaken or Lauterbrunnen?
Danke!
What’s the question?
Question: Which station has short-term luggage storage?
https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/at-the-station/services-at-the-station/lockers/lockers.html
Official details of every station in Switzerland which has lockers and/or manned luggage store. Find on a map, or get a list. Prices, sizes, cost, method of payment, hours. More good stuff too...
Short answer - each of the places you list. (my personal choice, Meiringen, FWIW)
Meiringen looks to be a good choice for a stop since there are two possibilities for a visit: the Aare Gorge and the Reichenbach Falls. If any in our group are fans of Sherlock Holmes, they can opt for the museum there.
The gang is coming over here later this week and I plan on overwhelming them with suggestions! Actually, less is more for most in our group, so only a brief outline of ideas is what they'll receive.
10 people in a Wengen AirBnb? Guess I can cross Wengen off my Trail- of-Rick-Steves plans for the future. My suburban town prohibits more than 6 unrelated people from living in a house, let alone a short-term rental!
Meiringen is indeed a very good call! Lauterbunnen being a decent second choice if you want to explore the valley floor (there are falls). Interlaken would make sense if you need to shop, but not otherwise.
Unsure what warrants the comment regarding 10 people in an Airbnb; Wengen doesn't strike me as party central 😂, and some of those chalets for rent can be really large!
@Tim-
Oh yeah, all 10 in one room is what you must be picturing! It's a 5 bedroom/5 full bathroom penthouse managed in partnership with Hotel Falken, where we check in.
@Balso, thanks for the defense of Wengen and our lodging!
Meiringen is home to a Swiss Air Force Base. Looks like they have a museum. They fly the FA 18 Hornet similar to the US Navy Blue Angels. You just might catch them taking off for training. We noticed them flying over the Lauterbrunnen Valley during our visit in 2019. I have a thing for military aircraft....
We were able to drop our luggage off at the Air bnb and then explore until check in time. You might want to check with your host to see if that is an option.
