4 days in Zurich

We are going to be spending 4 days in Zurich 9/28-10/2. We will be traveling there by train from Munich, having spent the 4 previous there. While in Zurich, we plan to travel to Lucerne and possibly Schaffhausen. What will be the best travel pass to purchase? In Lucerne we would like to take a boat tour, and a tram into the mountains. Can we buy a pass to include all of these forms of transportation? Or will each trip need to be purchased separately? My husband is over 65 and wondered if there is any kind of age discount. Thank you!

There are no senior discounts in Switzerland. Why are you spending 4 days in Zurich when you could spend them in Luzern instead? A lot more to see and do there.

There is the 4-day Swiss Travel Pass, but at 295 CHF per person, that is pretty pricey. There is also the Saver Day Pass. You would need to buy it now to get 79 CHF per person and use it for a day trip to Luzern, along with a boat ride and train to the top of Mt Rigi, and return. But you have to pick the exact day and buy it now and know that it is totally nonrefundable.

If you chose to stay in Luzern, there is the 4-day Tell Pass for 250 CHF. Good for the region, but not all the way to Zurich if you were leaving from there.
