4 Days in Switzerland in Sept-early October.

What hotel do you recommend in Montreux? Or Lausanne? Or Geneva?

I have 4 days on my own after my RS Alpine tour ends in Chamonix, France. My flight leaves from Geneva airport.

I’m curious what base you would suggest. I would like to see the Chateau Chillon and the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, also the museum for Brute art. Relaxing by the lake in Montreux sounds divine. I will need to be in Geneva the night of October 2 as my flight is on October 3.

I welcome your thoughts and ideas.

Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic in Montreux was great--lake view and location, but as always, I'd search Booking.com with your dates and parameters.

I also like the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic. It might be worth going over your budget for the great location—just steps from the train station, lakefront and boat dock.

I fell in love with the hotel after watching this video

Others on the forum like Vevey. I didn’t care for it as much as Montreux, but it might be worth looking for hotels there.

Thanks, Carrie, the video was great and filled with useful information. I will think about the Grand Majestic for a day or so. Maybe I will splurge.

No idea, but I’d check Lausanne too as they are both well positioned. I didn’t make it to Lausanne, but you should check both anyway since you mentioned things you specifically wanted to do there. I hoped to day trip there and Vevey, but I got rain (and Covid, oops).
If you can get a lake view for less, no reason not to! But definitely try for a lake view in whichever town you choose.
