Hello! I’m new here and this is my first post. Hope you can help me. I will be joining a tour in Chamonix in September, but before that I want to spend about 4 days traveling from Zurich south to Chamonix. I’m assuming train is the best way to go. Can you give me guidance about this and suggest an itinerary? Since I don’t have much time, can you recommend which places would be best for stopping/spending the night? Thanks!
Assuming your flight is to Zurich, go immediately to Luzern to spend your first night and maybe a second. Then the Golden Pass scenic train route to Montreux to spend another night or two, then train to Chamonix via Martigny, Valorcine, to Chamonix.
www.sbb.ch/en will show the route. from Luzern to Montreux, specify via Interlaken Ost and Zweisimmen to get the scenic route.
