4 day Itinerary query

Hi,
We are planning for a 4 day trip to Switzerland in June. We are going to take Swiss pass and depend on public transport for all trips.

Query is
To do day trips (unguided) to Mt. Titlis and Mt. Jungfrau , which is the preferred base? Interlaken or Lucerne?

While you could do either mountain from either town for a day trip, I think it makes sense to pair Lucerne with Mt Titlis and Interlaken with Jungfrau. But ideally, I would base in Murren/Wengen/Lauterbrunnen for 4 nights and blitz the Jungfrau region!! It is beautiful and much more enjoyable if you are staying in the region. Interlaken is close but not quite there. Make that extra effort to stay deeper in the Bernese Oberland and I think you will be glad you did!!!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Would love to do that. But I have my elderly parents with me --- the deeper Jungfrau region maybe for hikers?
Hence thought of keeping it to more connected areas.

Lauterbrunnen is a terrific base and well-connected for the area around the Jungfrau. It is much prettier, IMO, than Interlaken or Luzern. Very quiet village. You can not only ride to the Top of Europe Jungfraujoch, but also to the Schilthorn, exploring the cute village of Mürren. The valley has waterfalls and a nice bus serves the valley to make it easy to go to Trummelbach Falls. You can also take a cruise on Lake Brienz and ride the funicular to the fabulous old Hotel Giessbach, perhaps for lunch or just to have a look at the waterfalls there.

If your parents really are elderly, maybe Luzern would be better, as it has a nice town and lakeside you can wander around with frequent sit down opportunities.
How long can they walk for? 10 minutes, ½ hour, 90 minutes . . .?
For Titlis there is a ~10 minute walk from the station at Engelberg (town at the foot of Titlis), to the cable car on the edge of the town.

As caldbunch says, Luzern is good for Titlis (or Rigi or Pilatus). Interlaken (or Lauterbrunnen/Wengen/Grindelwald) for Jungfrau.

At Luzern you have the lake boats, leaving from the quayside in the town centre in front of the station.
You can do a circular trip where you get a boat round to the far side of Pilatus, funicular up to the summit, cable car down the other side and then a short bus ride back to Luzern. Details here: https://www.pilatus.ch/en/discover/golden-round-trip/

The old town is to the right of the bridge, along the river. the station and boat quay is to the left of the bridge. Above and slightly to the right of the station, the mountain with cloud at the top is Pilatus. Rigi and Titlis are further away.

Hi ,
It's really appreciate the wonderful suggestions.
Personally I would have loved to explore Jungfrau region. Will consider that an option.
Didn't actually check out Lucerne...but am gonna do that with the links sent.

If we can do only one mountain top...does the view from Mt.Jungfrau very different from Mt. Titlis?
