3 days in Switzerland May 13th to 15th

We will be traveling by train from Milan to Switzerland, the plan was to go to Wenden, but was told most of the town is shut down at that time of year.
1st trip so not sure what all we can expect to do and see in that short period. We want to Hike, take in the beautiful Swiss Alps and countryside by train. Any feedback is appreciated. We will be traveling back to Milan on the late train on May 15th.

Any thoughts on hotels, restaurants?

By all means go. May is a great time to go because you get spring weather and it's not so crowded. Higher elevation hiking trails will probably still be closed but there will be plenty open at low and mid-elevations. This winter was below normal for snow. You might get a freak snow shower, but that's about it.

I was going to suggest Hotel Baeren. It see they close after Easter until May 24. Probably typical,of the smaller family-run hotels.

Try the search engine on Booking.com to identify a place that will be open---and then book direct with the hotel.
