Hey folks, hoping for some critical feedback on how realistic our itinerary is. I'm aware of the typical trappings of booking heavy travel every day. The tightest schedule seems to be Tirano to Locarno, then leaving the next afternoon for Lauterbrunnen. Curious what thoughts you have about how to relax the schedule a bit, if you think its too tight.
Sep 2: Arrive ZRH from Reykjavik 2pm and train to Appenzell
Sep 3: Explore St Gallen/Appenzell, second night in Appenzell
Sep 4: Hike from Wasserauen to Berggasthaus Schafler
Sep 5: Hike from Berggashaus Schafler to Zwinglipasshutte
Sep 6: Hike Zwinglipasshutte to Hoher Kasten, then down to Sennwald.
Evening train to Chur
Sep 7: Bernina Express Route from Chur to Tirano (get off at
Morteratsch Glacier, maybe elsewhere. Not sure whether we'll do the true Bernina Express or take local trains. Looks like there are no side-by-side seats left on the Bernina. Thoughts?)
Sep 8: Tirano to Locarno (either direct train via Milan, or train to
Varenna, Ferry to Menaggio, then train to Locarno.) Looks like
difference is ~3hrs slower via Como, but maybe more scenic? This is where I'm most concerned about doing too much.
Sep 9: Locarno until mid-afternoon, then train to Wengen
Sep 10-14: Stay in Lauterbrunnen (Wengen); day trips
Sep 14: Lauterbrunnen to Zurich
Sep 15: Fly home ZRH
Appreciate any feedback!
Thanks
