2 quick questions about ski passes in Zermatt

I am having a hard time finding answers for these questions. I will appreciate any insight!

  1. We are a family of 3 skiers and 1 non-skier (me!) - I will not ski but still want to ride the lifts/trains in all 3 areas, including to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Can I just get a ski pass even though I am not skiing? Or do we have to get 3 ski passes and one peak pass (for me)? We'll be there 3 nights so either way we are getting multi-day passes.

  2. Do we have to get these tickets ahead of time (we'll be going end of March)? Or just better to get them at the hotel once we are there and look at the weather?

Thank you in advance!

Regarding #2, Zermatt now practices dynamic pricing on ski passes but the range of prices is not too "extreme" so I would wait. Also, the skiers could be interested in passes that include Cervinia - the food is cheaper and just as good there ;-)
Regarding #1, I scoured the FAQ and T&Cs this morning and could not find the answer... maybe ask the question through the contact form: https://www.matterhornparadise.ch/en/About/Contact

I suppose that you can use a ski pass without wearing skis, and I cannot see how they could effectively enforce a "skis-only" rule at the rather crowded Sunnegga and Gornergrat boarding areas, but a pedestrian Peak Pass costs double the price of a ski pass so that loophole seems too good to be true. Therefore... I would ask.

This is just a guess, but when going up the mountains near where I live you pay for each leg of the journey (one way or return ticket). In the summer many people hike up and take the gondola down, therefore the cost of their journey is less than for someone purchasing a return ticket.
If the skiiers are able to ski down - therefore taking the gondola only one way - then you might have trouble going down again on a ski pass. Not sure if this would apply in your situation or not.

Skiers download all the time, especially from Furgg into Zermatt, since the ski run is a ramp built into the side of a cliff and often icy.
Also the walkers pass is eligible for the Half Fare Card, while ski passes are not.

Ah, I see...obviously I don't ski 😅 Just trying to see why there would be such a difference in price...and why anyone would pay more if they did not have to.

Thank you all. You are all sharing exactly my concerns and I was not able to confirm either way anywhere. Balso's suggestion to email them directly was great and I did that. Hopefully they will respond. I think I am deciding to wait to get the tickets until we get there since there are so many variables (kids will ski free on Saturday because they are under 16) but I wanted to be prepared. Thanks again!
