2 night gap between Luzern and Murren. Where to go?

Currently spending 3 nights in Luzern (until 23th morning).
I have Murren / Lauterbrunnen valley booked upcoming, but there's a 2 night gap between these two locations (my initial plan was to delay heading to Lauterbrunnen until the 27th, but Murren prices go up significantly, so booked for 25-29 instead)

What should I do (fyi, I have Swiss Travel Pass second class)
1. Gotthard Express, stay in Lugano. Bernina Express to Pontresina or Chur, and stay somewhere there. Murren next morning
2. Zurich + Appenzell
3. Appenzell only
4. Bern + something
5. Other

I would vote for going to Bern. Bern has in itself a lot to offer, and there are interesting towns near by, that are often overlooked by tourists, like Solothurn, Murten and Neuchatel.

Thanks for the replies so far. Bern seems to make the most sense so far.

I think fitting Gotthard Express & Bernina Express + trip to Murren on day 3 would be too much travel and not enough time to enjoy the towns.

You could just stay put in Lucerne and day trip to Bern and other areas. Why pack up and move?

If you want more of a city experience...Bern. More of a mountain experience...Grindlewald.

I agree with "Threadware." Stay put in Luzern. Make use of your Swiss Travel Pass! There are several mountains that are day trips from Luzern. You can even take the train down to Lugano! We just returned from Europe-we spent three days in Luzern, we wished we would have spent more.
