2 Days in Geneva or Lausanne

Hi everyone, first time posting here.

My family - all adults, no children, will be visiting Geneva for 2 full days before flying home mid day on the 3rd day.
(Our trip starts in Paris before visiting Lake Annecy and hiking in Chamonix. We end in Geneva area as we're flying home out of their airport.)

We enjoy city life - cool cafes, bars, parks, art, museums, etc.

We were originally planning to stay in Geneva, maybe spending a day there and a day trip to visit Lausanne or Montreux

After reading posts on this forum, my question is would it be better to simply stay in Lausanne? It seems it may be a more fun city and closer to some other interesting day-trips like Gruyeres.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help us out!

Montreaux is better than Lausanne.
Lausanne is better than Geneva.

From Chamonix, I would take the scenic railway to Martigny and continue to Montreux, Vevey or Lausanne for the remainder of your stay. Geneva is pleasant enough, but that end of the lake is less scenic than the Lavaux region and the eastern end around Montreux.
