We are in Lucern for 3 nights and wanted to take a couple of day trips. The choices for the day trips are Mt Pilatus or Mt. Rigi for one day. The other day we're thinking of doing Stoos Ridge hike. What do you think of the plan? Which one would you do between Mt. Pilatus and Mt. Rigi?
Post-Lucerne, we are headed to Wengen for 4 nights.
Will you have a STP? I ask because Rigi would be completely covered: boat ride, cogwheel train and/or gondola. I prefer Rigi over Pilatus, but it's very close between the two, as they both are beautiful!
I feel they are each a half day, unless you're adding extensive hiking. I love the sunset at Mt Stanserhorn, which is only 45 minutes from Lucerne, and is also covered by the STP. The latter has an open air Cabrio gondola, which is quite cool!

Yes— definitely take a look at the Swiss Travel Pass as well as the Berner Oberland Pass as they likely will save you a lot of money around Lucerne and in the Berner Oberland.
