15 day itinerary - suggestions

I am in the early stages of planning a 15 day trip for my husband and me (both 61 yers old - we will not be doing a lot of hiking). Would love suggestions and/or advice on itinerary, lodging, things not to miss, trains and length of stay in each place. Is this too many short stays with too much traveling? We would be traveling Oct 1 - Oct 16, 2024 and will be traveling mainly via trains.

  1. fly into Milan
  2. immediately take train to Lugano for 3 nights
  3. train to Zermatt for 3 nights
  4. lauterbrunnen (wengen and/or murren) 4 nights
  5. grindenwald 3 nights
  6. lucerne 2 nights
  7. fly out of zurich

Our trip did not include Lugano or Zermatt, so I can't speak to those locations. My suggestion for the Berner Oberland would be to stay in Wengen as a base; no need to split your stay between there and Grindelwald. We thoroughly enjoyed the Hotel Edelweiss in Wengen. I would suggest 5 or 6 nights in that area, (not 7) and then add a night to Lucerne. If you are planning for October of this year, my strong suggestion is that you determine your itinerary and get accommodations booked ASAP. Once you have those set, then work on which Swiss travel pass is the most economical.
