14-Day Trip to Switzerland

Hi,

We are currently in the process of putting together an itinerary for Switzerland at the end of August. Here is what we have so far:

Departure: August 25th (YYZ-ZRH) - Arrival in Zurich on the 26th

4 Nights in Lucerne

  • Old Town, Lake Lucerne, Mt.Pilatus, Zurich, Mt. Gigi

3 Nights in Interlake

  • Brienz, Harder Kulm, Jungfraujoch, Bern

2 Nights in Lausanne

  • Lavaux Vineyard, Montreux, Gruyeres

1 Night in Zermatt

  • Matterhorn

2 Nights in Lugano

  • Lucarno

1 Night in Milan

Departure: September 8th (MXP-YYZ)

If you have any suggestions on how we can make this itinerary better, I would greatly appreciate it!

P.S: The less we transfer hotels, the better!
Thanks.

I think you mean by putting “3 nights in Interlake” that you will be staying in Interlaken. While it is a beautiful city my husband and I were disappointed with it when compared to Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. While the last 2 towns mentioned are very small they have the easy and quick access to the mountains, trains and trials you will want to hike to see the beauty of this area. We stayed in Interlaken on our first trip and changed plans on our second to base ourselves while in that area in Wengen. We were so glad we did. We did rent a motocycle at a shop in Interlaken while there one day to drive around the lakes area and that was a highlight.

I agree with Jane on her post about Wengen. Looks like a great itinerary for Switzerland. Enjoy your trip.

It is 3 hours from Lausanne to Zermatt, and 5 to 6 hours to Lugano, so at best, that gives you an afternoon and morning in Zermatt.
