I'm doing the RS My Way Alpine Tour in July. It ends with two nights in Chamonix, France. I have an extra day before I fly back and am wondering whether I should spend another day in Chamonix or take the early train to Lausanne and spend the day and night there.
In either case, I have to be at the Geneva Airport the next day for a fairly early flight.
Without making a judgment on the worth of Chamonix or Lausanne, the trip to the airport will be quicker and have lot more options from Lausanne. (frequent direct trains, 1 hour trip).
I would opt for Lausanne...it would be difficult to get from Chamonix to Geneva for an early flight. The train from Lausanne will take you into (literally inside) the airport to catch your flight. Lausanne is beautiful, has just enough to see in a day, and will be a relaxing end to your trip.
