11 nights, northern Italy and Switzerland

We are planning an 11 night trip to Northern Italy and Switzerland, flying in and out of Milan. August. Would like to include Cinque Terre and Lauterbrunnen Valley. It will be my husband, myself and our 12 year old daughter - who unfortunately does not like to hike - though I am hopeful the scenery will inspire her.

Potential itinerary:

Night 1 Milan
Night 2-5 Lauterbrunnen Valley
Night 6 Milan
night 7-11 cinque Terre

Unfortunately we have to fly in and out of Milan...

Five nights in CT is a loooooooong time for someone who doesn’t like to hike. Maybe even for someone who does like to hike! In August it will be a mob scene.

Seems strange to break up the trip with another night in Milan. How about a couple nights in Stresa instead? You can take a ferry out to the islands, tour a pretty interesting palace with gorgeous gardens, go ziplining & shopping. Swim in the lake. Even rent boats on the lake. We loved the Hotel du Parc. Great room on the top floor with a double br, single br and two full baths. Gorgeous view.

Then spend your last night in Milan.

Consider staying up above Lauterbrunnen in Wengen or Murren. The temps might be lower up there. You’ll be hard pressed to find places with ac in the area. But you might wish you had it in August.
