My husband and I are traveling to Europe in July and are planning to spend a week in Switzerland. What itinerary would be best?
Go to Interlaken, then travel into the Berner Oberland. Grindelwald, Wengen, Murren.
To actually help you, what types of things do you want to do/see? Hiking, lakes, museums, historic sites…..? Where are you entering/exiting the country? You’ve asked a very general question and unless you want very general suggestions like the one above, you’ll want to provide more information.
There are, indeed, many areas of Switzerland other than the Jungfrau Region. A few questions to help us help you:
- Where are you coming from? Will you arrive in Switzerland by air or by train for another European country?
- What do you like to do when you travel? Hiking and walking are big in Switzerland but not everyone’s choice. Walking and hiking, scenic train rides, walking in cute villages, cruising on alpine lakes, cities with museums and history: what’s your pleasure?
- Do you like to relax and immerse yourselves in one location for a few days or go go go and sample two or three places in a week?
- Where will you go after a week in Switzerland?
Thank you all for your helpful responses. We will be coming off of a 2 week Danube river cruise and will travel from Budapest to Switzerland via air. We like outdoor activities and history. No museums.
I'd go ZRH to Berner Oberland for 4 nights, then to Luzern for 2-3 nights. Its only 1 1/4 hours to ZRH, so you can go day of departure.
