i need a 1 day stopover in the Alps (or great Alpine views) from Basel to Zurich in July. Looking for some good hiking or Alpine scenery. We have been to Lucerne and Wengen. Something like Wengen, but a quicker train ride would be idle. Could even be a longish day trip from Basel ending in ZRH. If it's a day trip, we would have luggage, thus an overnight is preferred. Maybe Lucerne is easiest? Are there good hikes from L? We have never taken the cable cars, so we could do that. Suggestions?
