1 and 2 day trips out of Zug

We are house sitting in zug the last 2 weeks of July. Besides Lucerne and Zurich I would like recommendations of 1 to 2 day side trips by train. Want to go to Berner Oberland but wondering if we need more than 2 days from zug. If so we will go before. What other places should we visit that are 1 to 2 day trips from zug

Edit: You just corrected "Zuk" to "Zug", so I have amended below.

In one day you can get anywhere in Switzerland, so no problem if you are planning an overnight stay, but day trips range limits you.
Luzern is a few minutes by train from Zug, and gives you the lake and the local mountains.
Consider a day trip up Titlis: https://www.titlis.ch/en
Berner Oberland is good but I would recommend an overnight. Bern is good for a city day trip, as is Lausanne. Zürich comes further down the list for me. And lots more places.
Consider Ticino (Italian speaking area in the south), Lugano, Bellinzona etc.
Depending how many nights you can spend away from this house, also consider a trip to Paris. 3½ hours from Basel or Geneva by train.

Thank you. So you think if we planned to spend 2 nights in Berner Oberland that would be enough time? It looks like Zug to Lauterbrunnen is about 3 hrs by train

cedfall, I would say 2-3 nights in the Berner Oberland. The problem most people have is that the weather can be glorious or cloudy. The normal advice would be at allow long enough that you won't be disappointed if you have a few bad weather days. You have a great advantage, you are only 3 hours away and have flexibility. Do not fix your days before you arrive in Switzerland, look at the weather forecasts and decide 1-2 days in advance when you want to go to the Berner Oberland.

You have probably got this covered already, but if you are doing a reasonable amount of travelling by public transport, it will pay you to get a half price card. CHF 120 for 1 month, details here: http://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/holidays--short-breaks-in-switzerland/swisstravelsystem/swiss-halffare-card.html
You then pay child's fare (50%) for virtually everything, including town buses in Zug. Click on "Map of Validity" at the right of the page for details.

Thank you! I have also heard there is another card called the Swiss card. Which is better? I have not had time to research these two options. Regarding Bernese Oberland, will we be able to find a room if we wait and watch the weather?
