4 of us will be in Zermatt on NYE 2022. Looking for restaurant suggestions for a meal at 17:00. We are staying in Ausserberg and will be in Zermatt all day on 31 Dec. Thanks in advance.

Not sure whether you’re mainly looking for simply something to eat, or something special to ring in the New Year once it’s gotten dark. There’s a unique experience at the Riffelalp Hotel, https://www.riffelalp.com/restauration/ , above town at 2,222 meters elevation. We took the Gornergrat cog train to dinner, then back down to Zermatt afterwards - but you need to be aware of the train timetable to catch the train. It’s a remarkable experience, taking the train, potential scenery, and the hotel.
There are several restaurants there, but looks like most don’t start serving dinner until 18:30. There is the Bar 2’222, where at 17:30 you could have appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and other dishes, but it won’t be in one of their fancier restaurants.

Thanks for the reply and info. Will check out the bar and restaurants you mentioned. We are booked to take the Gornergrat and will stop at Riffelalp Hotel and Bar 2’222 looks great! Thanks again.
