Zermatt

“Moderate price” and “Zermatt” are seldom used in the same sentence. Have you tried a booking site (like Booking.com) to check possibilities? What is “moderate” to you, in CHF?

Like Laurel said moderate and Zermatt really don’t go together… We stayed at the Hotel Antica Annex a few summers ago…good location and a reasonable price-nice room and good breakfast

In addition to the comments about overall cost, if you are planning to ski in Zermatt,
you should pay attention to the location of the hotel vis-a-vis the lift locations and
where you plan to ski. Sunegga and Gornergrat start points are fairly close to each
other but pretty far away from Matterhorn.

One does not really ski back into town in Zermatt, and while there is a bus network,
it's not all that dense. So this might be a time where paying more for a better location
is worth considering, unless you don't mind hoofing it around in ski boots.

My favorite is the Hotel Ambiance, the last independent family owned and operated hotel in town. It is ski-in under the right snow conditions from Sunegga and ski-out, at least into the center of town.
