Wengen Hotel Recommendation (Alpenruhe or Bellevue) winter

Looking for recommendation for hotel in wengen for winter, non-skier.
Best hotel the get the view to the valley & the mountains.
Alpenruhe Wengen or Bellevue Wengen?
Looked to the reviews, Alpenruhe Wengen seems have a higher review, but also saw the Bellevue room facing the mountain looks good. Not sure which one is better?
We are young, a bit of walk uphill is not a problem. Looking for good views to valley + mountain & enjoying wine.

They have fairly similar views as they are quite close to each other and face the same direction. I stayed at Alpenruhe in January and really liked it. We had a superior room with a large balcony, amazing view. I don't ski and kind of enjoyed that they did not cater exclusively to the ski crowd. Very nice younger couple run it and have put a lot of thought into the place. Rooms were spotless. The breakfast was not extensive but used local products, was very high quality, delicious and kept us going for the day. The feel of the public spaces and rooms is minimalist and has a bit more of a 'design' touch than Bellevue, which is more of a cozy, traditional place (and no TVs in the rooms if that matters to you).
Another difference is that Bellevue has a full restaurant while Alpenruhe does not regularly offer an evening meal. They had one night with a special set menu, but otherwise you will have to go out elsewhere every night. With Bellevue you can book half-board, which is usually a good deal in the mountain hotels and can save money. They are both perfectly nice hotels and you can't go too wrong, just different styles and maybe one appeals to you more than the other.
Hope that helps!

We stayed at Bellevue Wengen last September. We were on a higher floor, corner room, large balcony with amazing views. Breakfast selections are extensive. We did not do the half board option, but probably should have since I checked out their daily menu posted by the door. The view from our room took our breath away, and will stay there again if we return to Wengen.

If you stay in Murren your view will be of the Monch-Eiger and Jungfrau, if you stay in Wengen those view will be behind you if you can see them at all. J

I am with conifergirl. We loved that hotel and those views! Food was quite good. I would stay again!

Re: the comment about the views being "behind" you or even nonexistent in Wengen - that is not really the case, especially up the hill where both the hotels mentioned are located. Sure, it's a different perspective from the other side, but an equally impressive panorama either way. You also get the spectacular view of the length of the Lauterbrunnen valley from Wengen, which you can't see from Mürren. Mürren definitely has a more "close up" view since it's sticking out over the valley, but it's not like Wengen is less scenic! One great thing about staying in the region is the chance to visit all the different villages and see the views from different angles. You can't really go too wrong and each village has its diehard fans...based on that you want views of both the mountains and valley, Wengen is a good choice.

Yess! I'm having a tough time deciding between the two hotels, as both are excellent choices! I've already reached out to Alpenruhe Hotel to request a corner room on a higher floor, but unfortunately, they seem to be fully booked for corner rooms, which is surprising given it's still six months away. My concern now is that I might end up with a lower-level room without the stunning valley and mountain view. Since I've never been to the area before, I'm relying on your expertise.
While Murren and Wengen are both wonderful destinations, I'm hesitant to choose Murren due to the ongoing construction expected to last until 2025, which might cause some disturbance. Perhaps I can consider Murren for my next visit. Love all your input and opinions!

Also, Wengen has better access to a broader variety of non-skier activities like hiking trails, toboganning trails, mountain restaurants, etc. There are some on the Mürren side, but not as many.

I was also surprised to read the negative comment about the views from Wengen.

Promotional literature clearly shows the Jungfrau aligning perfectly with the main street in town. For me, this is the ideal angle to view the Jungfrau, with its glacier, as opposed to the 'side' view seen from Mürren. This is the way it appears from many parts of the Canton of Bern and beyond.

The views down the valley toward Lauterbrunnen are stunning from Wengen, both day and night.

I hope you find an available room with a view that allows you to fully enjoy the winter wonderland awaiting you!
