Hotel Beau Sejour; excellent guest service; immaculately clean; terrific breakfast and comfortable bed. They also have air conditioning which was definitely needed during our stay.

Hotel Balances…..GREAT….get a room on the top floor with a balcony that overlooks the river!

I’ve stayed at Hotel des Alpes twice. My most recent stay was this past June.

If my travel budget was larger, I would probably go with Hotel Balances, as mentioned by Jane. That hotel has air conditioning. Hotel des Alpes does not and the rooms can get a little stuffy. They do provide a fan for the room.

I stayed at Ameron Hotel in 2021 for 4 days. Well located, modern and great a/c. I stayed one night at Hotel des Alpes in a small room with no a/c. It was quite unpleasant. Everyone at the hotel was lovely, but if you stay make sure to pick a room with a/c.

Another vote for the Ameron Hotel Flora. I've stayed there twice.

Excellent location.

I was part of the "The Best of Switzerland in 12 Days" tour from 4 - 14 August, 2024. Let me start by saying it was HOT!
Every day had a high temperature of about 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Checked into the Hotel des Alpes in Lucerne. The
room had a great view of the wooden covered bridge. However (!) the hot sunlight streamed into the un-air conditioned
room. We could open the tall windows, but there were no screens. Bugs and even a seagull or two might have flown
into the room, as the hotel sits on the lake.

We had some cylindrical, black, slightly cool air spewing machine. Only effective if you were about four feet maximum
from it. Our nights were rather unpleasant. As I checked in, another guest was checking out. The receptionist asked
him how he liked the room. His reply: "It was HOT!" He was clearly displeased.

Good location. The restaurant is prices. My partner wanted a cold strawberry smoothie. It was a smoothie and was
strawberry, but cold it was not. I remembered that from Europe. They charged us CHF 6 (Swiss Francs) for a carafe
of water. (?!) Our first time there. I asked the server if I could fill my water bottle from a carafe on the bar counter.
Surprisingly to me, she became angry and almost shouted at us, in English, "You fill your bottle in your room. Use
the faucet in the room!" Honestly, she was very unpleasant and offputting. She could have simply explained the
situation to us, without her blowing a gasket.

Another person kindly told us that food from supermarkets was much cheaper. She showed us where COOP was.
A bottle of Evian there was CHF 1. They have lots of good salads, sandwiches, and other appealing food.

Some of us decided we would never again visit Europe in the traditional summer. It was just too hot - every day.

chinesebill30, those rooms can definitely get warm. The trick is to keep the windows and curtains closed during the day. Then open the windows at night when the lights are off. It sounds like you had the same Dyson fan that I had. Mine actually worked pretty well. You have to fiddle with the buttons to get a higher speed.

It was pretty warm when I was there in June. So, I can just imagine how hot it was in mid-August.

I stayed at Hotel des Alpes a few years back. It was warm even in September when we were there. I could endure 93 degree weather there, but it wouldn't be fun. I would rather find something with a/c if visiting during the summer.
