We will be in Lucerne for 2 nights and looking at booking a room and wondering if any thoughts on Hotel Monopol or Cascada Hotel. Looking for pretty view quite centrally located and easy access to train oh and a good breakfast. Thank you. Corinne
You have posted your question in the section for travelers to review their previous stays. You may receive more replies to this if you post it in the "Destination Q&A" section. We did not stay at either of the hotels you mentioned. However, our stay at Hotel Beau Sejour was terrific. It is a short, beautiful walk along the lake to reach the Old Town. It is also on the bus line, and we received a complimentary bus pass.
Hotel Des Alpes and Hotel Balances have incredible views looking on to the Chapel Bridge….great locations. We walked with our luggage to the train station which was nearby and were right next to the dock where you boarded the boats to Pilatus and Rigi. These hotels are in the heart of Lucerne.
The only thing I know about the Hotel Monopol is the disco in the basement that stays open until 4 am. My friends described it as the worst disco in Luzern, but then it is the only disco in Luzern.
We stayed at Hotel des Alpes in July 2025 and reserved a room with a Chapel Bridge view. We loved looking down at the bridge and the water etc and all lit up at night it was delightful.
Thank you for your responses!! This helps me so very much. I will definitely be canceling my room at Monopol. I will be looking into booking at these other hotels and requesting info on Q&A. Thank you again
