Loved this hotel,. it was perfect for me on my 19 day solo trip, had an economical single room with gob-smacking view, no balcony needed, you can sit on the hotels' view terrace all you want. Breakfast was varied and fresh, muesli was delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful, and walking poles were free on a first some basis. Murren was not terribly crowded in mid-September, but it was unseasonably HOT -- I had no need for the warm socks or light sweater i brought to layer with, and after Switzerland I shipped my heavy clothes and hiking shoes home along with a few souvenirs. There's a full service post office in Lauterbrunnen.
Highly recommend the Edelweiss for a quick stay or first time in this area.
Had one excellent dinner at the Blumenthal hotel, too.
If I would return to this area (hopefully) for a rejuvenating week in one location (and with a friend) I would probably stay in Gimmelwald, at Esther's Guesthouse. Cooking at Esthers would require a few trips to the Coop store in Murren, but it could be done economically with a little planning.
