Chateau Gutsch funicular question

We are traveling next week to Switzerland (yay!) and I have a question/concern about the funicular railway at the Gutsch, where we will be staying for 2 nights. Many posts I have read says it goes out quite a bit and that the hotel is not always responsive when helping people “out”. I’ve been stuck in an elevator before…so not fun. Anybody have any input - it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Many posts I have read...

where did you read them and what were their dates? As far as I am aware it's operated by Luzern Transport and is in Zone 10 of their fare system, it isn't private for the hotel.

Thanks for your reply. They were reviews on TripAdvisor. I am aware that it’s not private for the hotel, so with that I understand you can’t hold the hotel responsible for its maintenance. I was just wondering if there were other people out there who have had good or bad experiences using it.

Lantana, we were in Luzern a month ago and used the funicular to go to the Chateau for afternoon drinks. It is not-manned.
While at the top, we “overheard” people saying it was not operating…and so they had to walk up.

The “hill” is not that high so we chose to walk down on the shaded path. When we got to the bottom, we saw the funicular heading up, in operation once again.

Thanks. That seems to be the norm. I guess it’s all just part of the adventure 😀

unmanned cable cars and funiculars need an operator offsite who can respond to the button press and use cctv. Sometimes they need a break for .. well... whatever. Thay'll be back

Had that one year in the vicinity of Vitznau.
