Avoid Hotel Bristol in Zurich in May

We just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. I booked it since it was a Rick recommendation. I didn't think in early May the lack of A.C. was going to be a factor. WRONG! The whole building is uncomfortably warm. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the street. It was uncomfortable just entering the room, and the small table fan in the room did little to help. So we had to open the windows. At night it was impossible to sleep with motorcycles roaring up the street, cars, voices---- you name it; we heard it. The room was in a modern style which gave a cold feel to it. The mattress was sitting only on a bed frame, so it was very low to the floor and difficult for our 70 year old bodies to get out of. The towels in the bathroom were small, thin and only 2 a piece. ( I point this out since every other place we stayed in our 18 day trip offered 3 towels, the bath towel being a large size.) The toilet paper was anything but soft. There was no safe or fridge in the room. The breakfast offering was the weakest of all the places we have ever stayed served in a very stuffy room. I could not believe that canned fruit cocktail was actually offered as a choice! This place has "cheap" written all over it. The only positive thing I can offer is the staff is very friendly and helpful.
