Traveling from Chamonix, I will have one night in Geneva before flying out at 7am the next day.
Would it make more sense to just find a hotel near the airport? Or is it possible to stay at a hotel where I could see a few things. I am not interested in anything fancy.... its just for one night. Safe, clean and under $150, if possible.

I would stay at the airport. Trains to get back there after dinner take only 7 minutes from the central station and run 4x/hour until midnight.

My flight leaves at 7am....
I found a hotel in which the shuttle starts at 5am.... is that enough time to make the flight?
It's Geneva to Istanbul.

I agree with MrsEB, go see the old town and have a nice dinner. A transportation card is free for the asking at the airport hotels, the public transportation is easy. Check the online resources, I think the #10 tram takes you right to the old city from the airport area. The 5 am shuttle should be fine as long as you are reasonably close to the airport for your 7 am flight.
