Trollhattan things to do

We are arriving in Gotthenburg in mid-April, spending 3 days there, then going to Trollhattan for a work week. After that we will continue to Stockholm & Copenhagen. My question, do you have any recommendations for day trips in or around Trollhattan that I could take while my husband is working? I won't have a car but can use bus or train. Just day trips please, I'd return to Trollhattan each evening.
Thanks so much for the advice. I have already learned a lot about things to do in the other cities we will visit from this great forum.

I believe you can get to Gothenburg pretty quickly from Trollhattan. I spent several days in Gothenburg last year and liked it a lot. I bet there will still be things in Gothenburg you haven't gotten around to by the time you relocate to Trollhattan, so you might want to make a trip or two back there during the week.

I'm sure there must be other places of interest (though smaller) that would be workable, but I don't know Swedish geography and rail routes well enough to suggest them. I'm confident you'll get sound advice from an expert soon.

I'm not sure I qualify as an expert, but yes, Gothenburg is the obvious day trip. 40 minutes away by train. Frequent departures, and it's a regional train so no need to buy a ticket in advance. Apart from that I'd suggest Vänersborg, a small town 20 minutes north of Trollhättan, at the southwestern tip lake Vänern, partly made famous by poet/singer/writer Birger Sjöberg. Lidköping is also good option that should be on the list.

But, it would be helpful to know what you are interested in and what you want to see and do. And how far you are willing to travel for a day trip.

Thanks for the recommendations. As to what I like to do: walking tours, museums, cultural sights. I like to wander around a town see what there is to see. I even like corny tourist stuff - I had a great time on the Sound of Music Tour in Salzburg, for instance. Of course, a visit to a spa for a Swedish massage one day might be great too! Thanks again for all the advice.

Mid-april is hardly peak tourist season, so not everything will be open. You didn't mention how far you are willing to travel, but for nice towns to wander around in you can add Lysekil, Mariestad and Strömstad.
