Transportation from Stockholm airport to central Stockholm

Looking for recommendations on private car or van from ARN to central Stockholm?

I would suggest you just take a taxi. Taxis are unregulated in Stockholm,, but Taxi Stockholm, Taxi 020, and Taxi Kurir are all reliable and charge a fixed rate from the airport to Stockholm. If you just need a regular sized car, you can just get one from the taxi queue. Otherwise, they have websites where you can prebook.

Here is the info for Taxi Stockholm:

Sig, There are taxis called Airport Taxis that have a fixed rate. Your hotel can give you the information. In 2015 the rate was 380 SEK. I image the price has gone up, but still is better than running the meter, IMO. Your hotel will give you a code or email a receipt to give the driver so you can get that rate. I love Sweden. Wray

Have you considered the train? It's fast, relatively inexpensive and takes you right downtown from where you can take a taxi or perhaps even walk to your hotel. There are fast and convenient metro connections on one of 3 lines to more distant locations that you might not want to walk, as well. I used it in late November and found it easy to navigate.

For my family of 4 (2 adults, 1 youth, 1 child) to travel on the train, it looks like it will be 458 SEK or $51.77 if we book non-refundable 90 days in advance.

I'm hoping the taxi price will be better.

I made a quick check and a taxi for 4 people is 675 SEK (I didn't notice the date). It may be prudent to check the cost of the taxi before making a final decision. Note also that there are two train options, a "standard" (commuter train) and the "Arlanda Express". The latter is quite pricey. I understand you can board the commuter train under Sky City at Arlanda C (Not Arlanda North or Arlanda South—these are for the Arlanda Express only), but there is a “station access fee” in addition to the train fare (this fee has something to do with how the station was funded). On our last visit to Stockholm, when we departed Stockholm we took the commuter train to Märsta (end of the line) and a short bus ride to ARN. The train and bus fares were included on the Stockholm Card, so there was no additional cost. If you pick up a Stockholm Card at ARN, the same would be true traveling from ARN to Stockholm

Jon, what company was that with? And was that prebooked or from the taxi queue?

I frequently have experienced a problem with embedding a link in a post. If this doesn't work send me a private message and I'll try to send it that way.

I purchased an Arlanda Express train ticket 90 days in advance for $17.24. It is good for any train on a particular day. About a 20 minute train ride from the airport to Stockholm Central Station.

Wow! US$17.24 for the Arlanda Express; everyone should jump on this (pardon the pun).

Jon, I was just curious which specific taxi company quoted you 675 SEK because that was higher than it was a couple of years ago. The website link just looks like a generic calculator. The various taxi companies set their own price as taxis are not regulated.

When you go to the taxi queue at Atlanta, you should always ask the price before you get in.

We took the Arlanda Express train upon arrival last summer (booked tickets ahead of time to save money), and it worked perfectly. Convenient, clean.
