Trainline vs SJ website schedules

We will be traveling from Stockholm to Gothenburg and later Gothenburg to Denmark in August. I am trying to book the reservations online. Initially, I planned on using Trainline, which I recently used for all our reservations in Spain with no issues. However, when checking the schedules on both Trainline and SJ websites, I am seeing two totally different sets of train schedules. Is there more than one train company operating these routes and possibly Trainline shows only one line? My preference is to use Trainline as I find it very easy to use. Not so much with SJ as not everything translates, but they have more to choose from and if there are any issues/delays we would have more options for later trains with SJ.

Thank you!

Thank you for the quick reply! I'll check out the Omio site and see if it looks more user friendly than SJ.

Thanks again,

That is the drawback of using booking sites like Trainline, they might not show all available trains.

I have no idea what Trainline shows and doesn't show so I can't give you are more precise answer.

Are you using the English version of SJ or do you translate the Swedish one? I prefer to book with the operator to get updates about the trip and easily get compensations and refunds.

Stockholm-Gothenburg has three companies, SJ, MTRX and Flixtrain.

Gothenburg-Copenhagen has Öresundståg only. SJ operates Gothenburg-Malmö from August 21. In Malmö you can change to Öresundståg for the last hop to Copenhagen.

Thank you so much for the info. I was indeed using the translated version of the SJ Website which was probably causing my issues. I just went through the link you provided and was easily able to book directly. I agree re: booking with the operator. I usually book as much as possible directly, but had issues with the Renfe site for Spain so used Trainline.

Once again, I can thank the wonderful people on the RS forum. Always so helpful!

Yes. I first read about it here on the forum. I used it for all my reservations in Spain and had no issues.
