Does anyone have tips about taking the train from Copenhagen to Stockholm? Should we buy tickets before the day of the train trip?

Just took the same route today. Buy them
In advance and you will have to take the train form Copenhagen Central station and switch trains in Malmo.
If you can swing it 1st class is much more comfortable for a longish ride. It's very pretty and the train is smooth and quiet.

The tickets are most likely cheaper the earlier before travel that you buy them. You are then of course locked into that train departure time.
