Is there anywhere in Stockholm where I could hear live traditional Swedish folk music, played particularly with a nyckelharpa and/or fiddles?
Skansen is an option. So is Folkmusikhuset. When? In general Stockholm is probably not the best place for folk music though.
Thank you Badger. I'll be in Stockholm May 14 - 16 and in Kalmar the night of May 17.
In that case you have a great opportunity on the 14th, a concert with V-Dala spelmanslag and Väsen, 19:00 in Uppsala. https://www.reginateatern.se/v-dalaspelmanslag-väsen/ Not in Stockholm but worth the short trip.
Good news! Thanks again, Badger!
Väsen is a bit more modern though, but still in the folk music tradition. And a very great band. V-Dala spelmanslag is a student orchestra playing folk music, both old an new.
When I visited Skansen, they had very traditional Swedish music, and dancing, in traditional Swedish dress. Problem was it was just starting when we were planning to leave. Hopefully you can figure out the schedule better than I did and plan to visit during the music (it started late afternoon during our visit).
