Swedish Rail (SJ) Issue

I am attempting to make a train reservation for Sept 6th from Copenhagen to Stockholm on the SJ website, and see that starting on Sept 6th, there are no trains listed for about a 2-3 week period (It looks like a full schedule in October). I asked SJ the reason, and they said it had to do with planned track maintenance and they were waiting to get details before posting train times. Is this common - and is there a chance there will be no trains at all for a period between these two cities? I see the same thing when I look at Stockholm to Oslo a few days later. At what point do I make different arrangements?

Thanks in advance.

SJ is doing a lot of track work this summer so train schedules may not be determined till weeks or even days before. Frankly I think it’s pretty lame but that’s the way it is. There will be trains. Try to watch daily because like Italy the cheapest fares disappear the first day they’re offered.

I booked Oslo to Stockholm in May and about three weeks before the travel date they posted fares. Oddly the train was posted sold out about a week in advance but was about half empty. In that instance fares increased by a factor of 5 in just 2 weeks.

One of the things they may be waiting to post is exactly which Stockholm-area station you need to get to before boarding the long-distance train. Recently, travelers have needed to take SL commuter trains first to Flemingsburg. SJ could sell you that ticket along with your train reservation, or you might have an SL pass already from your time staying in Stockholm.
