Mid april have some extra time
and was thinking stockholm for 3-5 days
wonder if much is open or
any day trips around apr 15?

Yes, most things are open. Although some more tourist oriented sites may have limited opening hours. And there are plenty of good options for day trips.

Is your question about mid April regarding the season or Easter? Both Friday (April 15) and Monday (April 18) are public holidays. Might not affect tourist attractions that much but some shops will have limited opening hours, less public transport and I see that city hall is closed Friday and Saturday (not sure if it is about Easter or something else).
