Stockholm's Archipelago tours

Hello All- My son and I arrive 2 days before RS Scandinavia tour, we are looking at doing a boat tour through the Archipelago.
Anyone recommend a certain one? Length of the tour, what times leave? Thought we would make sure we get up
early from the jet lag and get the day going and seeing the sights. Thanks for all the Help

How much time do you want to spend on it and how far do you want to travel? Are you looking at a guided tour or to travel on your own? You can take a short trip to Fjäderholmarna and back (25 min one way) or one of the city ferries. Or you can spend an entire day and travel to the outer archipelago.

SL runs a couple of commuter ferry routes in and around the city and Waxholmsbolaget runs ferries all over the archipelago. Map of Waxholmsbolaget's routes: https://waxholmsbolaget.se/globalassets/kartor/hela-skargarden/linjekarta-skargarden-2023.pdf

For guided trips, Strömma has a couple of tours, both long and short. www.stromma.com And if you want to go to Fjäderholmarna, you use Fjäderholmslinjen, http://www.fjaderholmslinjen.se

Thank you Badger, looking for a guided tour, few hours would be great, then we can venture out on our own.

If you want to spend a few hours I have two suggestions:

A trip to Fjäderholmarna and back. Fjäderholmarna are a group of four islands close to Stockholm but still with a genuine archipelago feeling. That will allow you not only to get there and back, but also spend some time on the main island which is quite cute and has a few restaurants that can be a good option for lunch. There is also a small museum with traditional boats on the island, run by an NGO dedicated to preserving and renovating traditional boats (if you like their small exhibition, please donate a bit of money to them).

Or, one of Strömmas shorter cruises. They usually go to Vaxholm and back and lets you see a bit more of the archipelago, but doesn't allow you any time on land to allow you to explore an island on your own.

Again thank you for you reply, quick question about the Stromma tours, when looking it states outbound? is the 2.5 hour one way or round trip? I couldn't find anything on that question. thanks

Thanks for coming back to the thread.

I'm not sure what you mean and where it says outbound, but if a tour is 2:30 it is 2:30 from departure to arrival. If you look at the details you can see the schedule if you are unsure.
