Stockholm Hotel Recommendations, please

Hello,

My daughter will be studying in Copenhagen this summer. We are goin to fly over the week before her class starts. We leave from Washington DC on June 9 and will arrive 11am on June 10. My plan is to sped June 10-12 in Copenhagen, and then take the train up to Stockholm Wednesday June 12. We will leave Stockholm Friday afternoon and take the train to visit my friend in Norrköping. Stay the night and head back to Copenhagen on Saturday, where I will fly back home on Sunday, and she will meet with her study abroad class.

I am looking for hotel recommendations in Stockholm. I was there in 2011 but cannot remember where I stayed. Looking to spend approx $200-$250 USD/night. Air conditioning would be nice - my daughter breaks out in hives if she gets too warm too quickly so I want to make sure she can cool down in the evening. Do we stay near the train station or Gamla Stan? I would like to go to City Hall, Nobel museum, Gamla Stan & changing of the guard, Riddarholmen (I believe I climbed up this I may have the wrong church? although Google Maps indicates this is temporarily closed???) and Vasa/Skansen.

The luggage concerns me a little - Are there lockers at the train station, or will the hotel hold our bags if we are out exploring and need more time on Friday before we take the train to Norrköping? It looks like most hotel check outs are at noon.

Thank you!
Bridget =)

We stayed at the At Six Hotel in Stockholm. It is a short walk to the train station and sights in Gamla Stan, City Hall, etc. We were there for several nights and enjoyed it. They had a good breakfast buffet. I am sure they will hold your luggage for you. Most hotels do that.

Close to the central station has its advantages, but it is not the area I'd recommend for tourists. It's a bit boring and busy. But for two nights it might be a good option, otherwise I'd say that as long as you are within reasonable distance from a metro station you are in a good location. Slussen is a mess at the moment due to a large construction project, but you might want to have a look at Södermalm. Although it is a bit further away from the places you mention that you want to see.

We will be in Stockholm at the same time. We have reservations at the Freys Hotel. I booked it on Expedia with a coupon and got a large room within that price range. I got the coupon from Time.
