I read that the Stockholm Card will no longer be available tis year. Is this a great loss? Are there other alternatives that you could recommend?

The Stockholm Card was valuable to us, but is now history. Perform calculations from this website to learn if the Stockholm Pass and optional Travelcard make sense for your trip: https://www.stockholmpass.com/what-you-get/.

For transit, you may want to buy an SL travelcard. They have 24 hour, 72 hour, 7 day cards

When I was in Stockholm in 2003, I used the Stockholm a la Carte package, which included a hotel room and a card good for transit and most admissions (not quite as many as the Stockholm Card, but close). It was a very good deal for me, and its successor seems to be the Destination Stockholm package. See if it works for you: http://www.destination-stockholm.com/
