Stockholm and maybe Helsinki / Tallinn

I'm finalizing my summer travel plans at the moment. I will be flying into Stockholm. I plan to spend a full two & 1/2 days exploring the city, but after I will be heading off to Oslo and Copenhagen. I recently found out and am very interested in undertaking a side trip by ferry to Helsinki and because it is so close Tallinn. I could spend a night in both cities. To maximize my time, would it make sense to simply fly to Oslo or Copenhagen from Tallinn or Helsinki? A little advice and information on ferry cost would be grateful.

Thanks!

David

You could fly to HEL first, visit Tallin by ferry or hydroplane, over night ferry to Stockholm, then Oslo departing from CPH to minimize back tracking. SAS hubs through CPH and serves OSL and HEL.

Alternatively, fly to CPH with multiday stopover in Copenhagen, fly to HEL ferry to Stockholm, then OSL before returning also to minimize back tracking.

Helsinki to Tallin. Viking vs Silja vs Hydrofoil. Both Viking and Silja dock at Helsinki's South Harbor near the center city. I'm not sure where the hydrofoil departs from.
Hydrofoil: http://www.ferryto.com/lindaline.html
Viking: https://www.sales.vikingline.com/en/find-cruise-trip/timetable/helsinki-tallinn/
Silja: http://www.tallinksilja.com/en/web/int/helsinki-tallinn-one-way-trips

Price varies with departure time and meal plan.

Silja and Viking ferries also operate between Helsinki and Stockholm

Since it sounds like you're already locked in to flying to Stockholm, try www.skyscanner.com from flights departing Helsinki or Tallinn. For instance, Adria flies direct Tallinn-Oslo and SAS flies direct Tallinn-Copenhagen. Helsinki might have more or cheaper options.
