Spring itinerary suggestions -with family

Hi
We are a family of 4 - kids -13/14 years old traveling first time to Sweden in April.
3- copenhagen - Tivoli n dinner
4-6 malmo
6-10 Gothenburg
10-13 Stockholm
13-15 Amsterdam( to see flower fields )
-Flights in between cities
Questions
1.The above was the plan but after reading previous posts on Malmo would like to replace Malmo with another city. Any suggestions welcome. We have visited Norway , Finland ,( including Lapland ), Iceland , Amsterdam and Copenhagen earlier. I had thought of replacing Malmo with the tree hotel / Kalmar / Jokkmokk ( up north ) , but I’m not sure if the costs involved( as hv to fly )are worth it as it’s not best season to watch northern lights and we have done other Lapland activities recently.
We could spend another day in Copenhagen n extend a day in Gothenburg or for watching the tulip fields n do activities there.
2) would appreciate suggestions for good food joints tea coffee houses n bars. In the above cities.Food could be any cuisine but where locals go and not
touristy.
Thanks In advance

Are you seriously considering flying from Malmö to Gothenburg and Gothenburg to Stockholm?

Answers:

  1. Replacing Malmö with something else is a good idea, in the area I can recommend Lund and Helsingborg. But you could also consider adding a few days to Gothenburg or Stockholm, as your plan looks a bit rushed. Or adding a day or two in Uppsala (doable as day trip from Stockholm but deserves more in my opinion). The Tree Hotel is really something special and the northern lights is not the only reason for staying there, so don't dismiss them because you're not visiting in peak aurora season. Any particular reason for including Jokkmokk and Kalmar on the list?

  2. Check reviews on Google and Tripadvisor.

Hi ! Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry for delay in replying. I was down with a terrible flu
. I liked Lund . Tree hotel looks stunning but we are still confused about the timing as we spent a week in Inari Finland in March in the igloo cabins and did all the Lapland Activities. It was great fun. If we do tree hotel without lights it would be more like a repeat except the hotel is unique.
Another option is to pre pone things and increase time to see the flower fields. I believe there are other activities to be done there at that time.
Any good local restaurants recommendations in these cities would be great
TIA

Sorry to hear that, I hope you are feeling better now.

I liked Lund.

Have you been there? It is a charming town, so is Helsingborg. Malmö is in my opinion pretty boring in comparison.

Doing it in April is very different to a winter trip. But it depends on what you are looking for. The Tree Hotel is really something special that will give you an unique experience, but might not be what you are looking for in this trip.

See the reviews on Tripadvisor. You can sort them by language, so if you only select reviews in Swedish you will get the local's views.

Also, you'd be mad to consider flying Malmö - Gothenburg and Gothenburg - Stockholm. Take the train.
