Any recommendations for a Smorgasbord in Gamla Stan that won't break the bank?
It is not an everyday meal, so there are few places that will offer a smörgåsbord outside of the holiday season.
The only smörgåsbord that I am aware of in Stockholm is the one at the Grand Hotel’s Veranda https://grandhotel.se/en/food-beverage/the-veranda/the-verandas-smorgasbord
It is 675 SEK. The Veranda is a lovely setting and the quality of food is high.
The various ferries to Helsinki and Tallinn also have buffets with many of the traditional dishes. However, I don’t really care for the ship buffets as I think the sit-down restaurants have better food.
The only place on land that serves it daily during the summer that I'm aware of is Grand Hotel. As mentioned it is not an everyday meal. And many restaurants stopped serving them during the pandemic, and they haven't really returned yet.
If you're in Sweden in december though the Christmas version, Julbord, is served almost everywhere.
We will be there the first week of October. Bummed to find out Tivoli will be closed then as well.
Then bump this thread in mid-September. By then, most restaurants should have their autumn menus set.
